What’s changing
Google is expanding its Information Rights Management (IRM) capabilities in Drive to include all users, including file writers and owners. This means that documents can now be protected from data exfiltration actions, such as downloading, printing, and copying, regardless of the user’s role.
What does this mean for you?
- Enhanced data protection: Sensitive content can be better protected from data leakage, even when shared with users who have write permissions.
- Improved collaboration: Users can collaborate on documents with confidence, knowing that the content is protected from unauthorized access.
- Simplified administration: Administrators can now apply IRM settings to all users, regardless of their role, using DLP rules.
This update will be rolled out gradually to all users, so you may not see it immediately. However, once it is available, you will be able to take advantage of these enhanced data protection capabilities.
